British Air Force Typhoon FGR4s have conducted a mission with French warplanes in a coordinated attack on an subterranean weapons facility in Syrian territory employed by the Daesh militant organization, per a report from the UK's MoD.
The location, located using intelligence, was believed to be containing munitions and bombs, the release indicated, and was positioned in mountainous terrain just to the north of the ancient city of Palmyra in central Syria.
"Our fighter planes employed precision-guided Paveway IV munitions to target a number of entry passages down to the facility... preliminary assessments are that the target was engaged successfully," the ministry announced.
There was no evidence of any civilian casualties in the attack on Saturday evening and every plane involved made a safe return, the defence officials confirmed.
The British jets were assisted by a Voyager refuelling tanker.

"This strike demonstrates our UK leadership, and resolve to work closely with our partners, to eradicate any resurgence of Daesh and their dangerous and violent ideologies in the region," the British Defence Secretary the minister stated.
RAF aircraft have conducted surveillance missions over Syrian airspace to "deter any attempted resurgence" of the group subsequent to its military defeat at the Baghuz confrontation in 2019, the ministry said.
"I want to thank all the members of British forces participating in this mission for their skill and their courage," Healey commented. "Including them were numerous British personnel deployed over the festive period. This mission, to take out dangerous terrorists who threaten our safety, demonstrates how UK forces are ready to step up, continuously, protecting the UK at home and strong abroad."
