Replay systems will be launched at Wimbledon this year.
Athletes are granted the right to question certain decisions from the chair umpire, mirroring the practice currently in operation at each of the American Grand Slam and the Aussie major.
This technology will be operational on the main stadium and Court One for the duration of the Championships and on the remaining show courts when they are hosting singles matches.
This move follows just a season following the All England Club implemented electronic line calling, which effectively ended the centuries-old tradition of line officials.
Players cannot to dispute the accuracy of the electronic line calling, but are allowed to ask for the official to re-examine specific decisions, including:
Importantly, there will be no cap on the amount of reviews a competitor can ask for.
An illustrative example occurred in Indian Wells recently, where Daniil Medvedev initiated the review system against his opponent.
The British player admitted it was a difficult situation for the umpire, but believed his rival had "played the rules effectively."
Official Aurelie Tourte watched a video and determined the player was responsible for interference, granting the rally to Medvedev.
This technology are not new for Grand Slams. The system was adopted at the American major for two years and the Aussie Open this year.
Additionally, it is becoming more common on the WTA circuit, and by next season the ATP circuit will have video reviews in place at all of its tournaments.
A further innovation at The Championships 2025 will be the addition of visual indicators on scoreboards to support the audio calls from the ELC system.
This addresses situations where the crowd have occasionally been unsure if a ball was out or in.
In other news, with precisely a century of days to go until the beginning of the Championships, the AELTC have further revealed an increase in daily capacity at the qualifying competition in Roehampton.
